Mt. Batur sunrise Trekking is must on your bucket list during holiday in Bali. Mount Batur is an active volcano, located in Kintamani district, Bangli regency, Bali. The peak with elevation 1717 meters above sea level, the landscape it’s surroundings has been created by the eruptions that took place in 1917 and 1926. Mount Batur is considered by Balinese the second important mountain after Mount Agung. Most of people visit Mount Batur to admire the amazing sunrise view with gorgeous caldera of Lake Batur, and the distant sea with beautiful view of Mount Rinjani in Lombok.
We will start our tour with free pick up from your lobby hotel or villa, Then we will have drive you to Mount batur Trekking starting point. Then you will welcomed by our professional trekking guide, He/she will provide you walking stick, Torches and Bottled mineral water. Continued the tour, you will have approximatelly 2 hours till you get the top Once you there then you will see spectacular sunrise view also you might see the hillocks jets of white steam puffing out from the holes. Before the sun rising, enjoy a glass of hot tea or coffe also hard-boild eggs and bananas cooked by volcanic steam, on the way back your guide will bring you to walk along side on the crater rim.

- 03:30 am arrival at starting point,
- 03:45 am Begin To walk up to sunrise point/peak acompanied by the licensed professional Trekking guides who have been doing this trip for 10+ years experience.
- 05:45 am Arrival at the sunrise point where we enjoy the spectacular sunrise view and Light breakfast with eggs cooked in volcanic steam.
- 06:30-07:00 am, after the sunrise, we continue to walk along side of crater rim, here you meet hundreds of friendly monkeys around the main crater
- 08:00 am begin descent
- 09:30 am your trip is finished, you will drive back to the hotel

We did the Mont Batur sunrise hiking with the guide Gede Ngarti who was an excellent and very kind guide – I recommend him !
My mom and I only had a few days in Bali. At the top of our list was to visit Mt. batur and do the sunrise hike. It did not disappoint and going with this group made all the difference!
Gede picked us up on time (an early 2:30am) and we were starting our accent by 3:45 with Wayan, Gede’s partner. Both were extremely knowledgeable about the mountain and it’s latest eruption (1963). They also provided water, flashlight, walking stick and an extra hand when needed!
The hike up has two options, an easier/moderate route and a difficult route. We took the easier route, which is very doable but still not a walk in the park! It takes about two hours up.
A lovely breakfast and killer views were included!
Nyomantangi was the perfect guide. She is very knowledgeable of the mountain and the area around it. The hike up can be steep but Nyomantangi will go whatever pace is needed. The breakfast served was simple but sufficient. The coffee is great. At the top Nyomantangi will take pictures; perfect for the solo traveler or groups. I highly recommend Nyomantangi as your guide to the top of Mount Batur!
Me and my partner battled the Mt Batur Sunrise hike with a fantastic guide named Made Panca. He helped us all the way up and even taught us Bahasa along the way like Lelah meaning Tired and Aku lapar meaning I’m hungry haha. When we arrived at the top he got us the best seats awaiting the sunrise views and made us breakfast which went down a treat. After we took so many photos of the stunning views and enjoyed the good vibes from the sunrise viewing spot Made took us a bit further up the mountain to get a nice view of the crater and to check out the steam holes that come out of the side of the top of the mountain.
Made took some great photos of us which toped it off.
I really recommend Made Panca to take you up to enjoy the the breath taking views. He is patient and very friendly!!
So glad I booked this before leaving Bali. Although the 2:30 start time is early, my guide Sipel made this an experience second to none. From the breakfast and coffee at the top, to the trek around the crater to see breathtaking views, volcanic steam, and wildlife, this was well worth every penny. Do not pass this one up!
The driver, Komang, picked us up right at the hotel and took us to the foot of the volcano where we met Wayan, the guide. Komang was very friendly. We had flashlights, water bottles and sticks. The hike to the top was sometimes tiring but Wayan regularly offered breaks and often made sure that everyone was well. Once at the top he prepared us a good comforting breakfast after these two hours of hiking while waiting for the sunrise. Remember to bring warm clothes because it’s very cold at the summit especially after sweating. The view is splendid !!!!! Wayan gladly take pictures of us !! Great memories! An unforgettable experience ! Wayan is very friendly, funny, we had a great time with him! Little extra, visit the Luwak coffee plantation in the early morning, very culturally and tastefully interesting!
We had an amazing time! Nyoman took us all the way through the mountain to the top, taking breaks (and star gazing) as and when we needed. Her friendly attitude and care made an already amazing experience even better. At the top she prepared us coffees and teas as well as sandwiches to sustain after the hike. She also showed us the best possible spots to take pictures and took some amazing photos of the breathtaking sunrise. Would definitely recommend!

My friends and I had a tiring and great experience climbing the mountain. But the sunset and views were amazing. Our guides Wayan and Made were excellent in guiding us and helpful to those who were struggling with navigating the path in trickier areas. It was cold at the start and got warmer 10mins into the hike as we climbed. But yes, the weather was kind to us. It was an exhaustive experience and difficult at some points but I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend anyone who hasn’t tried to go for it!
Went with a group of 12 guys. It’s a hard hike but we’ll worth it. I highly recommend it. Felt safe and had fun. The guides are friendly and knowledgeable. I was a little scared to go all the way up so I stayed back with a guide and my friends went to the summit. The guide that stayed chatted with me and distracted me from being afraid, they are amazing. 10 out of 10 experience. And there’s monkeys!!
The day started off with great conversation in the car so both the driver and I won’t fall asleep. The hike itself is not difficult, even though it is during the night, you just need to watch your step and your guide will adjust to the fitness level of your group. The views from the summit are nice and definitely worth the effort.
We were picked up in Nua Dusa at 1:30am. The driver was on-time and very friendly. It was a long drive, but he made it entertaining and the time flew by.
Once at the base of the trek, we were introduced to our guide, Sipi, he was great. He knew the hike so well, was friendly and knowledgeable. We decided to take the difficult route up and I’m glad he was our guide. We moved fast and he was very helpful. The terrain is steep.
We arrive at the peak before dawn, it was really nice getting there early. He prepared a bench for us an a breakfast. We had it all before the sun was up.
After watching the sunrise, he showed us the crater of the volcano and took some pictures for us.
We wanted to descend fast but take the other route. Sipi knee all the shortcuts so that we avoided the crowds and flew down the mountain.
There our driver got us home quickly and we were back in the hotel eating our second breakfast before 10am.
If you want a guide that is friendly and competent, Sipi is your man!
We booked our Hike just the day before, because it was something we really wanted to try out, and it didn’t dissapoint! The driver, Agus, picked us up at our hotel in Seminyak, and we had a lovely ride over there, where he told us alot about bali along the way.
At the bottom of mt. Batur we met our personal guide, Gede, who helped us up the Mountain. The trek itself had some harder parts, we (3 Norwegian Girls) who is in fairly good shape, did the trek in 1,5 hours. Our guide was very kind, and let us have breaks whenever we needed to. He even showed us some shortcuts.
We arrived earlier than expected, so it was a little cold while waiting for the sun to arrive. But we got hot chocolate while we waited, and we could rent some blankets if needed. When the sun came up we had frontrow seats, while we enjoyed a Mountain prepped breakfast from our guide. The view was amazing!
Before going down we took a walk around the crater at the very top, to look at the steams of smoke and monkeys.
When we got down, we were pleasantly surprised that we were going to a coffee plantation to try out different flavours. It was a nice end to our hiking adventure.
Our driver has helped us a lot during our stay with whatever questions we’ve had! Highly recommend him!
We think this hike is worth the admission, we got more than expected! Remember to bring good shoes and warm clothes, it gets cold at the top!
My friends and I had the best time trekking to Mount Batur. We got picked up at our hotel by our fantastic driver, Agus. He took such good care of us, and gave us all kinds of tips on our drive. He has helpt us with other stuff along our trip too, such as driving, boats to islands nearby etc.
Our personal guide, Gede knew the mountain well, and showed us serveral shortcuts. When we arrived at the top he made us a great breakfast with banana sandwich, eggs, fruit, chocolatebar and hot chocolate! He offered to take photos of us, and showed us the hot steams and also fed the monkeys. We stayed at the top as long as we wanted. The view was AMAZING!
I will absolutely reccomend this trip to everybody. Gede will adjust the speed for your needs, and help you at the climbing areas. Just remember to bring good shoes and warm clothes (it is cold at the top before sunrise).
