Tour Reviews
It was definitely worth waking up at 2:30 am. We had an amazing experience of this sunrise trekking. Our guide was Sipel, it was so fun and easy to climb up with him! He was very helpful and attentive to us. Then we watched one of the most beautiful sunrises in my life – colorful sky blended with white feather clouds. We felt being so high above the earth. Sipel is a cool photographer, he made wonderful instagram photos for us! I highly recommend this guide and this tour. These memories will remain in my heart for a long time.
Nyomantangi was the perfect guide. She is very knowledgeable of the mountain and the area around it. The hike up can be steep but Nyomantangi will go whatever pace is needed. The breakfast served was simple but sufficient. The coffee is great. At the top Nyomantangi will take pictures; perfect for the solo traveler or groups. I highly recommend Nyomantangi as your guide to the top of Mount Batur!
My friends and I (8 of us in total) recently hiked Mt Batur and had a great time! We had two amazing guides, Wayan and Made, who made sure that we were all feeling alright throughout the hike. Despite our fitness disparities, they made sure that no one was left behind in our big group. They also checked in with us constantly and made sure we had sufficient breaks. They both have a great sense of humour too, catching on to our jokes and making the climb less monotonous. We were also given hiking sticks which really helped going up and ESPECIALLY coming down!
We took the “easy” route up (the one that coincides with the motorbike route) which was a pretty good challenge, even for those of average fitness. Be preprared to give way to motorbikes though (they’re there to offer you a paid lift to the summit if you don’t want to continue climbing; a similar service is offered down as well).
The view at the top is incredible! It was really nice to just sip our hot drinks, enjoy breakfast, and watch the sunrise. We got to try snakefruits and a local balinese chocolate as well! A very special moment for all of us 🙂
Overall, I would really recomend Wayan and Made, as well as this Sunrise hike! Definitely a highlight of our time in Bali.
Had 2 guides for a larger group – Wayan and Made. Separate drivers for the trip to and from Mt Batur. All of them had decent command of English, so communication was generally not a problem. They provided walking sticks, flashlights, and water.
The guides were very knowledgeable and made us feel safe. Generally one stayed at the front to lead and the second was at the end to stay with the slower people. They also helped to pull us up/ guide us down at the steeper portions.
We were very lucky with the weather and got a good view of the sunrise. Were some of the last few off the mountain, but the hike still ended fairly early in the day (about 8.30 am).
One thing that could have been improved were the handheld flashlights provided- they do take away one free hand for balance/ gripping at the parts of the hike where you need to scramble up, so chest mount or head mount would have been better. But alternatively you could just bring your own.
