It was definitely worth waking up at 2:30 am. We had an amazing experience of this sunrise trekking. Our guide was Sipel, it was so fun and easy to climb up with him! He was very helpful and attentive to us. Then we watched one of the most beautiful sunrises in my life – colorful sky blended with white feather clouds. We felt being so high above the earth. Sipel is a cool photographer, he made wonderful instagram photos for us! I highly recommend this guide and this tour. These memories will remain in my heart for a long time.

My fiance and I did the sunrise hike with Wayan and could not have been more pleased. Wayan was a great guide and stopped whenever we needed a break on the way up and even held my hand up rocky or slippery parts. It is clear he knows Mt Batur like the back of his hand, and he guided us up with ease.

It was too rainy and foggy the day we went up to see the sunrise, but Wayan made it worth it by pointing out any time the sun peeked out of the clouds on the way down. We still think the trek was greatly worth it because the views during the descent are stunning (and you can’t see them going up since it’s dark.) Wayan also played music on the way down and we chatted a lot. He made it so fun and easy.

We did the ‘easy’ way on the way up. It is a bit challenging for those like me who do not regularly hike, but totally worth it. Highly recommend bringing your own water if you drink a lot like me. There are also two break points that sell water and snacks, so bring cash in case you need to buy. Breakfast was a good treat, as well.

The hot springs were a great treat at the end!

Nyomantangi was the perfect guide. She is very knowledgeable of the mountain and the area around it. The hike up can be steep but Nyomantangi will go whatever pace is needed. The breakfast served was simple but sufficient. The coffee is great. At the top Nyomantangi will take pictures; perfect for the solo traveler or groups. I highly recommend Nyomantangi as your guide to the top of Mount Batur!

My friends and I (8 of us in total) recently hiked Mt Batur and had a great time! We had two amazing guides, Wayan and Made, who made sure that we were all feeling alright throughout the hike. Despite our fitness disparities, they made sure that no one was left behind in our big group. They also checked in with us constantly and made sure we had sufficient breaks. They both have a great sense of humour too, catching on to our jokes and making the climb less monotonous. We were also given hiking sticks which really helped going up and ESPECIALLY coming down!

We took the “easy” route up (the one that coincides with the motorbike route) which was a pretty good challenge, even for those of average fitness. Be preprared to give way to motorbikes though (they’re there to offer you a paid lift to the summit if you don’t want to continue climbing; a similar service is offered down as well).

The view at the top is incredible! It was really nice to just sip our hot drinks, enjoy breakfast, and watch the sunrise. We got to try snakefruits and a local balinese chocolate as well! A very special moment for all of us 🙂

Overall, I would really recomend Wayan and Made, as well as this Sunrise hike! Definitely a highlight of our time in Bali.

Had 2 guides for a larger group – Wayan and Made. Separate drivers for the trip to and from Mt Batur. All of them had decent command of English, so communication was generally not a problem. They provided walking sticks, flashlights, and water.

The guides were very knowledgeable and made us feel safe. Generally one stayed at the front to lead and the second was at the end to stay with the slower people. They also helped to pull us up/ guide us down at the steeper portions.

We were very lucky with the weather and got a good view of the sunrise. Were some of the last few off the mountain, but the hike still ended fairly early in the day (about 8.30 am).

One thing that could have been improved were the handheld flashlights provided- they do take away one free hand for balance/ gripping at the parts of the hike where you need to scramble up, so chest mount or head mount would have been better. But alternatively you could just bring your own.

Quick and detailed replies for queries on Facebook messages. Gidi (driver) came on time and was cheerful throughout the drive.

Our guide was techniq who has 1000+ summits on Mt Batur over the course of 9 years. He was very encouraging, knowledgeable and helpful for our climb despite us arriving late (due to the coffee plantation visit). The food at camp was super delicious!

Overall, its a 10/10 experience for us and well worth the money we paid!

We booked the Sunrise hike and half day in Ubud and it was probably the best thing we’ve done since arriving here. Our driver was Dedi, he was prompt, on time and very funny. The hike itself was challenging but enjoyable and nothing beats the view at the end (the guides make sure you get amazing photos). The rest of the day was great and Dedi even recommended a fantastic place to get lunch. 10/10 experience!!

Very well-supported experience, from hotel pick-up directly to the starting point of the hike, to meeting the very warm and helpful hiking guide, Mr. Jero Raka, the morning was absolutely amazing!
The hike was moderately challenging, and the hiking guide adjusted to our comfortable hiking speed, and an appropriate amount of chitchat made it fun as well. Tools were all prepared, torches, water, snacks (banana, chocolate bars). When we reached the top, he prepared boiled egg using the volcano steam and it was so cool! He also prepared breakfast at a tiny house at the top of the mountain.
The route hiking down was a bit slippery, and Jero kindly helped us along the way. A very kind-hearted and experienced tour guide!
The whole hike up the mountain could be a little daunting, however all came to worth it once you see the sunrise at your eye level!
